Welcome to Six String Madness. I’ve been a fan of music for as long as I can remember. Like a lot of teenage boys, I wanted to be a rock star when I grew up. I signed up for a group class at my local music store where we were given acoustic guitars to use. After learning some of the basics, I purchased a used electric guitar and a little Crate amp. I signed up for private lessons and was on my way to being the next Eddie Van Halen. I quickly realized learning guitar took dedication and practice. With various distractions, I soon gave up. I never gave up on that dream though. Fast forward 15 years later, I decided it was time to try again.
Older and a little wiser, I realized rock star probably wasn’t going to happen but I still had that desire to study my favorite songs and by learning how to play them, become a bit closer to the bands that I have idolized for decades. I’ve practiced virtually every day for the last 6 years. The guitar is an amazing instrument and I’m amazed at the wonderful sounds that can be coaxed from it.
I’ve learned so much and wanted to share my excitement and passion for the instrument that I began teaching privately. I have a roster full of wonderful students and love to see the progress they make and watch their enjoyment as they learn to make music.
As I began to develop curriculum for my students, I realized that there are people all over the world that may be able to benefit from the knowledge I have gained and would enjoy sharing their passion with a community of like minded people. What better way to share with the world and create that community then blog. Six String Madness was born.

Often, I will promote, endorse, or suggest products and/or services for sale. And sometimes I will be compensated if you decide to complete certain actions like purchasing the product/service I recommend.
My recommendations are based on my belief that the product/service will provide valuable information to help you play guitar better.
Or, in the case of gear (like guitars, amps, etc.) I believe in the product is a good value.
My rule of thumb for recommending products/services is simple: I don’t promote anything that I wouldn’t buy myself. Let me say that again. I will never promote a product that I wouldnt use myself. My reviews of products are always honest. If there is a product that I find that is junk, I’ll tell you to avoid it and vice versa, if there is material or gear that I really think will help you to learn to play guitar, an honest and complete review will be given.
Sometimes, I personally review the product/service. And sometimes my recommendation of the product is based on the company’s reputation. (For example, I don’t need to test-drive a Mercedes-Benz to know it’s a good car).
But I only recommend products and services that I believe are good and will actually help you.
