The Magic Pill To Guitar Playing

In your quest to getting better at the guitar, have you ever thought, “there must be something I’m missing?”  Like that one thing that will cause all the dominoes to fall and you will have complete clarity and mastery of the guitar

I know I did in my early days as a guitar student.. I would actually watch people play something that sounded so far out of my reach that I figured there was some sort of trick that they knew that I didnt to allow them to play like that.  Years later and now as a professional guitar teacher, I realize there is no trick.

In fact, I often say that if I can convince the student in front of me in their lesson that they can do it then we’re 80% of the way there.

Just think about that for a moment – most students stop 20 feet from the finish line.

I can hand them everything they need to know on a silver platter… but so many people won’t just put the blinders on and take it and learn it.

So if you have this nagging feeling like you’re missing something… you aren’t. There isn’t some magic chord or magic scale or magic technique that’s going to transform your playing tomorrow.

On the other hand, it won’t take even 1/10th as long as you think it will if you do what you know you need to do… and while that’s different for most every person chances are you know exactly what you need to practice on 🙂

I think the biggest key to success in learning how to play the guitar is either working with a good guitar teacher in your area or  working through a good “self study” guitar lesson program.  Check out The Best Guitar Programs of 2014 to see if any of those interest you or address gaps in your playing.  They are all fantastic programs that will be absolute game changers to your playing

And don’t forget– you’re playing guitar and having fun along the way so enjoy the ride!  Don’t be in such a hurry to get to the finish line.  The journey is what matters.
